A senior digital transformation expert who bridges strategy and execution

With a background spanning top digital agencies, management consulting, and independent advisory work, Simon brings a rare mix of technical depth, strategic thinking, and hands on execution. He has led long running digital transformation programs from early strategy through implementation, often operating at a global level and across highly complex organizational environments.

What clients value most is Simon’s ability to cut through noise: turning scattered data, fragmented processes, and overly complex narratives into clear insights, strong operating models, and decisions leaders can act on.

Can you provide a brief synopsis of your professional background?

Simon:

“I have a degree in Computer Science, and my career started at a top digital agency where I worked in program management, technology, and process optimization. Because of my technical background, I often sat at the intersection between strategy and execution, able to define what needed to happen and also how to make it work in practice.

From there, I moved into management consulting, where I worked on large‑scale digital strategy, operating model, and transformation initiatives. Over time, I’ve worked across B2C and B2B environments, acting as a product manager, digital strategist, and program lead, often driving initiatives from initial strategy through implementation over 12–18 months.”

What brought you into consulting versus working in-house?

Simon:

“What I always enjoyed most was working directly with clients, being able to define a strategy and then actually execute it. Over time, I realized that independence would allow me to focus much more on value creation rather than internal politics or organizational bias.

As an independent consultant, I can work very closely with decision‑makers, challenge assumptions objectively, and stay focused on outcomes. There’s very little distance between me and the client, which makes the work both more effective and more rewarding for me.”

What motivates you most about working with a-connect and our clients?

Simon:

“What really stands out about a‑connect is the level of trust. Once they know you and your expertise, there’s no micromanagement.

There is the right amount of check‑in and support, but fundamentally, they engage you because they want your expertise, and then they give you the space to serve the client in the best possible way. That trust‑based model allows me to push clients to their full potential while knowing I have strong sparring partners behind me when needed.”

Do you have a particular highlight or “win” from working with an a-connect client?

Simon:

“For me, the biggest wins are when insights and storytelling change how leadership sees a situation.

In one engagement, I was able to dive deep into internal data to uncover what was actually working. Just as important was helping a senior stakeholder translate those insights into clearer, shorter, and far more meaningful decks. The improvement was explicitly recognized by leadership and made me smile when he received compliments for his development in the meeting. Those moments, when clarity, structure, and narrative unlock alignment, are where I feel consulting delivers real value.”

You write and speak a lot about technology and transformation. What perspective do you bring to topics like AI and project management?

Simon:

“I’m very pragmatic about technology. Tools can synthesize information quickly, but they don’t understand context, politics, or human behavior.

Whether it’s AI or project management, my view is that success comes from managing expectations, understanding the data deeply, and making sure the story actually makes sense to the people making decisions. Technology is powerful, but only when it’s guided by experienced judgment. That perspective is something I’ve explored further in my writing, especially around how organizations can avoid chasing shiny new tools without anchoring them in real value.”

When you’re not consulting, what’s something people might be surprised to learn about you?

Simon:

“I build custom handcrafted furniture in my woodworking shop. It’s a real passion of mine.

What I love about it is that it combines creativity, technology, I design everything in CAD, and execution. In many ways, it mirrors how I work as a consultant: you design thoughtfully, plan carefully, break complex work into manageable steps, and then execute with precision.

It’s also a great way to reset mentally and focus on craftsmanship.”
