Building a leading global biologicals business

Establishing a new business unit is complex. Especially when it’s being created by combining an existing Business Unit with a new acquisition and has to deliver rapid growth. This is the challenge our team and consultants faced and helped resolve successfully.

Bringing two entities together

A leading global agrochemical company needed to establish a new business unit focused on Agri-biologicals. This required combining their existing biological business with a recent acquisition. Both were quite different in structure and style. It was essential that the new entity’s operating model would support and deliver rapid revenue growth. And also leverage the strengths of the individual units pre-merger.

Ongoing support, strategy, and facilitation

Over a 9-month period, our team supported the Global Integration PMO with a focus on defining and delivering:

  • The program structure, workstream definitions, overall timelines, and governance structure
  • A managed process supporting workstream owners in developing future high-level operating models for global functions. This included resolving cross-functional interdependencies and identifying common processes, capabilities, etc.
  • The approach, including process, tools, and resourcing, for designing the commercial Operating Models for key countries
  • The change and communications approach in support of the workstream activities and decision making
  • The PMO set-up for years two and three of follow-on implementation work in key countries, legal entity mergers, systems transformation, culture formation and other transformational activities

Operating Models successfully launched and active

Our team designed and supported a process that enabled the client to design, test, and implement a range of global and in-country operating models. Many of these are now operational. We played a key role in the growth and development of a new, combined leadership team. This included establishing new ways of working and aligning key cultural traits.
